SelectCare has provided excellent home care staff since 1985 and is well known in the New York City area for quality Home Health Aides, Live In Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses. SelectCare workers can assist you for a minimum of 4 hours whenever you need help, to around the clock days, nights, weekends and holidays.

This web page will introduce our service to you and briefly explain how our service works, our staff availability, home care supervision, and our billing system.

 Our Service Includes:

  • Coordinated home care plans between your doctor, your health care team and our nursing staff.
  • Timely communication that avoids unnecessary delays in changes of physician orders or home care plans.
  • Monthly home visits and ongoing supervision by SelectCare Registered Nurses at no charge to you.
  • 24 Hour On-Call staff for emergencies, weekends, nights, and holidays.

How Our Service Works:

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

When You First Call Us:

We will explain our services, describe the home care worker's job responsibilities, our billing rates and payment procedures. We will be happy to fax or mail material that further introduces our service to you. 

Then, we start looking for the right person to assist you.

A personalized plan of care is developed. This plan lists your specific needs and requirements, the type of health care professionals we will be providing, their duties and responsibilities and work schedules.

A Registered Nurse will be out the day service begins to make sure everything is going as you expected.

SelectCare Home Care Staff:

  • Home Health Aides/Personal Care Aides (HHA/PCA)
    HHAs and PCAs perform basic nursing duties and help with your personal care in order to improve your quality of life. Generally, they're on an hourly schedule.
  • Live-In Aides
    Live-In Aides provide the same duties as HHAs and PCAs but they also live with you, so they're available in emergencies through out the evening.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
    LPNs perform skilled nursing techniques for routine treatments and care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. LPNs are available to care for clients on extended care cases in the home.
  • Registered Nurses (RN)
    RNs handle critical nursing needs, including complex treatments, and are available to care for clients on a visit basis or for shift cases. RNs provide overall home care supervision under the direction of your physician. RNs are available to care for clients in the home.


Arrangements can be made for the following:

  • Geriatric Care Managers
    They provide both individual and family counseling to help you cope with problems and adjustments physical and emotional. They also offer referrals to valuable community resources.
  • Physical Therapists
    They use exercise and other methods to rehabilitate injured or diseased muscles, joints, nerves and bones.
  • Occupational Therapists
    They help manage your daily activities at home through the use of creative, educational and recreational aides. They also help in the rehabilitation of physical and emotional disabilities.
  • Speech Therapists
    They help with communication problems such as learning to speak after a stroke.
  •  Chore Workers
    They handle heavy house cleaning to make your home environment clean and safe. Generally, they work on a short term basis.

SelecCare Billing System:

SelectCare begins the billing week on Saturdays and ends the week on Fridays.  SelectCare bills and pays on a weekly basis.  Reimbursement is expected within five days of receipt of the invoice.

The client or responsible party signs the weekly time sheet and keeps the blue copy for their records.  The SelectCare employee mails the signed time sheet to SelectCare Payroll/Billing Department.

We strongly suggest that the client keep a copy of all signed agreements and the blue copy of the weekly time sheets.

INSURANCE: Private and Long Term Care Insurance will be investigated for home care reimbursement at the client's request.

OVERTIME:  Overtime is billed and paid when a SelectCare employee works more than 40 hours for the client in one week, or on a major holiday listed below.  SelectCare does not charge for a weekly overtime rate for live-in care but does bill overtime when a live-in works on a holiday.

Labor Day   Thanksgiving Day   Christmas Day 

CARFARE: Carfare will be added daily to para-professional assignments of 4 hours or less.

VISITS:  A visit is considered 2 hours or less and designated for a specific duty such as escort service, bathing or, grocery shopping.

ADVANCE DEPOSIT: An Advance Deposit, equivalent to one week of service, will be required upon the signing of the Service Agreement.  This deposit will be applied to the last invoice of service.  A letter acknowledging we have received the Advance Deposit will be sent to the person responsible for billing.
